Restoration Rescue - getting you back on track

Land Rover restoration project stalled? Feel you are getting out of your depth, hung up on one particular problem or don’t even know where to start? I can help.

I restored my first Land Rover (badly I admit) in 1991 and over the years I have stripped and rebuilt very many of these vehicles from Series Ones to Defenders. There are few problems I have not already encountered and solved, and little that scares me now. Everything is fixable, you just need to know how.

So if your project has ground to a halt, the vehicle is stuck in your garage covered in dust and junk, you are being nagged to get rid of it or you just need a helping hand to get over the hump - call me.

I’ll travel to most places within the UK and bring tools with me. Typical areas where I can help might include:

  • Project appraisal and planning before you start pulling things apart

  • Initial body fitting and alignment on the new chassis

  • Fitting and connecting the wiring harness so everything works

  • Sorting the brakes when you have fitted all new parts and find the pedal goes to the floor

  • Getting the engine running after you have spent a week fiddling around and run the battery flat three times trying to start it

  • Or just giving it a good checkover and inspection to make sure you haven’t done anything stupid or dangerous

Price depends on the distance I have to travel: contact me with your needs and we’ll work something out.

Please bear in mind the idea here is that I guide you through the restoration process, not that you stand around drinking tea while I do all the hard work. I’m there to provide advice and knowledge, not a cheap alternative to sending your vehicle to a professional restorer.

I also provide overhaul and rebuild services for major mechanical units (engine, gearbox, axles) and can help you with sourcing good quality parts for your restoration.
