SORRY VEHICLE NOW SOLD.  If you have a similar vehicle that you wish me to sell for you, please contact me to discuss further.

I acquired this vehicle about four years ago.  It was a 'barn find' which had been stored under cover for about fifteen years after the previous owner removed the gearbox to replace the clutch and then lost interest.

I carried out a great deal of work to recommission it for the new owner.  The work done at the time included:

  • Engine rebuild - block rebored +040, crank reground, Turner unleaded head, new fuel pump, water pump, carburettor and distributor.

  • Gearbox replaced with rebuilt Series 3 suffix 'D' box. New clutch and hydraulics.

  • Comprehensive brake rebuild with all new hydraulics, drums and shoes.

  • New Rocky Mountain parabolic springs and Pro-Comp shocks.

  • Alternator conversion including new alternator.

  • 205R16 radial tyres (not new but plenty of tread) on blasted and powder coated 5.5 inch rims.

Since then the vehicle has covered just a few hundred miles.  The owner is looking to sell as he does not have the opportunity to use it due to other commitments.

This is a very usable, well-sorted Series 2A which still looks original and retains its period charm.  It still has the sprung-spoke steering wheel, Smiths round heater, twin wiper motors, push-button start and 'basic' interior trim.

Chassis is very sound although repaired in various places over the years.  Bulkhead is also solid.  There is some corrosion along the inside edges near the door seal retainers, but nothing serious at the moment.

Bodywork is very straight although the paint is faded, there is some corrosion along the bottom of the rear door and the paint on the doors does not match the rest of the vehicle.  Door tops have recently been replaced.

The vehicle drives well as you would expect, performance is lively by Series standards and it rides, steers and stops as it should.  There is a blow from the exhaust manifold gasket which will be sorted before the vehicle goes to its new home. It sailed through its MoT last month with no preparation required.

Asking price is £3,250 SOLD, which is rather less than it would cost to have a vehicle built up to this specification.  The vehicle is currently stored at my workshop in Thetford and unavailable to view by appointment.  Enquiries for export to Europe or the USA are welcomed.
