Series 2A Land Rover for sale

Advertised on behalf of customer: 1966 Series 2A 109 inch hard top, 2.25 petrol. SORRY VEHICLE NOW SOLD.  If you have a similar vehicle that you wish me to sell for you, please contact me to discuss further.   (More photos at foot of page) If you want a Land Rover with character, look no further.  This is a really lovely old working Land Rover, used but not abused, retaining most of its original features and packed with character.  I have looked after this vehicle for the last couple of years, vehicle is now for sale as the owner fancied a V8. 1966 Series 2A 109 hard top, fitted with the 2.25 petrol engine.  The vehicle is largely original and unrestored.  It drives well, was MOT'd and serviced last month and is ready to go.  Chassis and bulkhead are solid although they have had various repairs over the years like most vehicles of this age.  There is a bit of crumbly metal and filler in the upper outer corners of the bulkhead, but nothing scary.  Body is pretty straight, has been brush painted and looks reasonably smart.  Doors are solid.  One of the side windows in the hard top is cracked, but it shouldnot be too difficult to obtain a replacement. Engine starts easily and pulls well considering the size and weight of the vehicle.  Gearbox and axles seem fine.  The rear springs (8 leaf heavy duty) are starting to get a bit tired, the vehicle sits down slightly at the back. Tyres are 7.50-16 crossplies, chunky off-road pattern with plenty of tread. Original features include Smiths round heater, twin wiper motors, 'catflap' split tailgate, push-button start etc.  The vehicle has a number of desirable extras including Fairey overdrive, free-wheeling front hubs, capstan winch (not working at present as the drive dog is missing from the front of the engine) and front 'D' ring towing points.  Vehicle is also fitted with twin fuel tanks - the original Series 2A tank under the drivers seat, and a second tank at the rear, both with external fillers.  However the second tank has not been used for some years and I cannot guarantee that the system is in working order.
